Imke has put together a great page for our project and my tour in November: Mimages
Also, Kiyoshi Tamagawa of Southwestern University contacted me about a very interesting project dealing with several of Debussy’s work in late January and early February 2010: Bilitis, Revisited
I will play with him in Debussy’s 6 four-hand work “Epigraphes antiques”.
In the meantime I am choosing parts of the interviews I will include in the Debussy film. It is a bit overwhelming but moving forward.
This is the first video with my Tokyo footage from May/June 2009.
I shoot differently than before. Camera still images that use bokeh, dof experiments and new angles have affected my video shooting style.
The Tokyo trip was amazing..the best yet! I saw some old friends and met many new and interesting people. Everyone was so nice and I took so many photos and had many nice evenings.
Kimura-san is the owner of the Hotel New Azuma where I have stayed 4 times. He is an excellent professional photographer who recently returned from shooting in Nepal.
He took over the hostel from his mother, who owned it for more than 50 years through some of the most difficult times in the postwar construction. He will figure heavily in my film. www.tokyoraw.com

After trying a friends 24mm f2.8 lens I found one at Lemon Camera in the Ginza. I took this shot with the new lens:
This is a first attempt at a timeline with the recent footage of Austin Symphony Conductor Peter Bay.
It will continue to evolve.
Feedback is of interest!
Yesterday’s session with Austin Symphony Conductor Peter Bay and members of the Symphony was a great success. I am pleased with the result:
Peter Bay and I will meet soon to complete his interview. I can move forward with editing and will add new scenes from Paris that I will take during July 2009. I will complete a preliminary draft the film by September 1st.
Next Thursday I will finally do the taping with Peter Bay and members of the Austin Symphony. I am excited and hope it comes off as planned. I am concerned about getting the best quality sound recording and decent video for the film.
Work is progressing on the Debussy film and on acquiring a grant. Peter Bay is still on board but it is a matter of finding time to do the taping. I will do more establishing shots in Paris in July. The cheap airfares are a real boon!
